Patios | Outdoor roofing solutions

A patio is an outdoor living space with non-pervious roofing that provides protection from the elements.

They can be attached or freestanding, and usually include gutters and downpipes to manage rainfall.

Often used for entertaining, they provide a functional and aesthetically pleasing outdoor space.

Both pergolas and patios are designed to provide an outdoor area with additional space for entertaining, storage and general function.

Pergolas differ from patios as they traditionally do not provide non-pervious protection from the sun and rain. As a result, they often do not include gutters and downpipes.

Detailed information on the differences can be found here

Alfresco areas are usually built as an extension of the house with a seamless appearance of being part of the original roof structure.

Whereas patios are additional structures attached to the existing building without changing the original roof design. However, both a patio and alfresco refer to an outdoor living space for entertainment and recreational purposes.

There are many types of roofing materials to choose from when designing your outdoor roof. Options include steel, aluminium, timber, bamboo and woven materials. Some offer excellent value, look great and will last a lifetime, others should be avoided.

Our team have been helping clients choose the best materials for more than 50 years. In that time we’ve learned what materials work best and provide years of hassle-free enjoyment.

The cost of a patio depends on the following:

  • Size
  • Design complexity
  • Materials chosen

Fortunately, our team has been designing and building patios for decades and can help you with a solution that meets your budget. One of our friendly team is standing by to help you today.

When looked after properly, there is no reason your new patio can’t last a lifetime.

Working with high-quality materials and quality workmanship, we are able to offer lengthy guarantees on new patios, pergolas, verandahs and carports.

The usual time frame from start to finish ranges from one day to several weeks. The length of time depends on the layout and complexity of the design as well as any additional features.

Other factors to consider that may change the time necessary to complete the patio include material choice and availability, weather conditions, additions or upgrades, and any obstacles that may or may not come up.

Trueline has a solid reputation for problem-solving and giving customers the very best stress-free experience possible.

Yes – most patios in Rockhampton and throughout Queensland require building approval, especially if they’re roofed, attached to your home, or exceed 10 m² in size. Permit requirements vary depending on your local council’s regulations.

We handle the process for you, from drawings to submission, and work with councils in the Rockhampton and CQ regions to ensure your patio is fully cyclonic rated and compliant. Approval times typically range from 2 to 6 weeks, depending on design complexity and council workload.

In Rockhampton’s tropical climate, we often use insulated roofing panels like Suncool and Sunclipse range for year-round temperature control and comfort.

Powder-coated aluminium framing with a ceiling with coastal protection as standard paired with durable Kwila hardwood posts ensure longevity against heat, humidity, and seasonal storms.

Our local builds frequently combine fascia-attached or elevated designs with LED lighting, provisions for fans aswell and can include privacy-enhancing aluminium slatting, and integrated carport-and-patio solutions.

We also use a range of beams to assist with strategic post placement to keep entertaining spaces open and unobstructed.

The benefits of building an outdoor patio

Australia’s climate is ideal for year-round use of outdoor spaces.  Aside from spending time outdoors, your new patio will provide the following:

A comfortable place to relax

Patios allow you to unwind and enjoy the outdoors in the comfort of your backyard. The simple pleasure of sitting back with a cup of coffee or enjoying lunch or dinner with friends or family is more enjoyable.  For added luxury and comfort, you could include extra lounge chairs, other furniture and decorations to enhance your relaxation experience.

Additional recreational outdoor space

A patio can be used as an additional recreational area and an extension to your living room. Creating a cohesive space for family and friends to gather during events. The outdoor structure with a customisable roof offers protection from direct sunlight and rain. Allowing you to enjoy the outdoors regardless of weather conditions.

It can increase the value of your home

If you ever decide to sell your house, having an existing outdoor patio can increase the value of the property. When people are searching for their next home, the existence of an outdoor area can really be a deciding factor. Additionally, the increase in value of your property can cover the initial costs of building a patio with plenty to spare.

It gives you extra storage space

Expanding your home with an outdoor patio can double down as extra storage space to help declutter areas inside the house. Such as having an outdoor kitchen or dining area could halve the storage spaces being used up inside the house.
